William Bell is the Technology Director of Operational & Corporate Analytics at CenterPoint Energy, Houston, Texas. His responsibility includes formulating strategy, roadmaps, and vision targeting how IT and the business areas are partnering to form Team Analytics for Smart Grid Analytics. He was formerly the Advanced Metering System Intelligent Grid Program Management Office (PMO) Technology Director from 2009 through 2011. As a member of PMO he was responsible for the quality of all systems supporting the Smart Grid. Earlier in his career Bill managed several multi-million dollar efforts (including the SAP upgrade to ECC 6.0). He also chaired the subcommittee to develop ERCOT Market certification. Mr. is a certified Project and Program manager and is a 2014 IBM Champion. He received his BBA Magna Cum Laude from the University of TX Arlington and JD from University of Houston.
Mr. Bell will be discussing Analytics as a Discipline™© as it is applied at CenterPoint Energy to deliver rapid data driven solutions for the company. He will discuss the Disciplined approach to Analytics and how that approach has enabled rapid advancement in Situational Awareness for Outage and Telecomms, Real Time automated remote resolution of telecommunications equipment issues and the protection of assets through Transformer Load Monitoring, support for Gas Operations and Revenue Protection among many other topics.
