Robert Gaudette serves as Senior Vice President of NRG Business Solutions, where he ensures that NRG’s broad portfolio of competitively priced product and services offerings can be tailored to meet the growing energy and sustainability needs of regional and national accounts. In delivering these important capabilities for customers, Gaudette is responsible for orchestrating product development, origination, structuring, negotiation, construction and the implementation of NRG business solutions for retail and wholesale customers.
In this role, Gaudette manages a team of energy experts dedicated to help its commercial and industrial customers manage their energy procurement strategy, provide market expertise and deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction. Notable developments created with the NRG Business Solutions team include the NRG Solar Ring at MetLife Stadium, the solar and wind arrays at Lincoln Financial Field and the back-up generation installed at critical water-pumping stations across Houston.
Gaudette previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at GenOn Energy. Prior to holding this position, he was Vice President of Mirant’s Mid-Atlantic business unit in Washington, D.C. During his career at Mirant, he served in various other capacities including Director of West Power, Director of NYMEX Trading, Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer and NYMEX natural gas trader. He began his career at Mirant in 2001 as a trading desk analyst on the Mid-Atlantic power desk and an analyst on the fuels desk.
Earlier, Gaudette served four years as an Army combat engineer officer in the Cavalry including a one-year deployment to Bosnia. Before leaving military service for business school in 1999, he served as the executive officer of a combat engineer company in the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment.
Gaudette earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from The College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in business administration, with a focus on finance, from Rice University.
Supporting the local community is important to Gaudette. He serves on the Advancement Committee of the Duchesne Academy, the Regional Economic Development Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership and the Energy Technology Screening Committee at the Houston Technology Center.
