Jeffrey Nichols

Jeff Nichols is the Director of Information Management for the Sempra Energy utilities, including San Diego Gas & Electric and SoCalGas, serving the energy needs of 2.5 million and 6 million customers respectively across southern CA.

Mr. Nichols’ organization provides IT services for the utilities’ 12,000 employees, including business intelligence & analytics, enterprise architecture, web services, database management, compliance management, middleware, email and collaboration systems.

Mr. Nichols was previously the Director of Information Security for the utilities, and prior to that Director of IT Infrastructure. He has held technology leadership positions at Kaiser Permanente, SAIC and multiple companies in the aerospace industry.

He serves on the boards of 211 San Diego, the Utilities Telecom Council, and the Utility Analytics Institute (advisory). He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business administration from Kent State University.
