Mr. Johnston is the President of Zpryme’s Energy Thought Summit (ETS). As ETS President he drives the
content, strategy and vision. In addition, he provides strategic guidance for the company’s media, research, and advisory services in the energy, transportation, and digital sectors.
Previously, Johnston was the Lead of Central Texas Fuel Independence Project – a 10-county advanced vehicle technology initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and led by Austin Energy. Prior to that, he worked with Landis+Gyr deploying state of the art metering technology for Pecan Street, Inc. In Washington, DC he served as Chief of Staff to the Wharton Economist, Jeremy Rifkin, and advised European Union Industry, Commission and Parliament leaders in energy and environment including offices of Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. He received his degrees from The Ohio State University and The University of Texas at Austin. In 2014 Johnston received the Austin Under 40 Award for Energy and Technology.
