27 Mar ETS Profiles: Dr. Vint Cerf – Chief Internet Evangelist for Google
- The energy industry does not have a coherent set of standards yet.
- There is hope that we can move away from atomic power generation.
- AI has a major role in energy production and distribution.
On March 23, 2016 Zpryme sat down for a Special Edition of ETS Profiles with Dr. Vinton G. Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist for Google and one of the “Fathers of the Internet.”
From the library at the Google offices in Washington, D.C. Dr. Cerf gathered decades of career-defining ones and zeros to field questions such as: What was the very first moment that influenced your engineering curiosity? With humans and internet gradually coalescing, how do you see AI applied to energy? What do you think about the singularity in general, and do you believe Elon Musk & co’s plan is the right approach?
One thousand years from now Bill Gates will be remembered…as well as Alan Turing and John Von Neumann.
Dr. Cerf contributes to global policy development and continued spread of the Internet. Widely known as one of the “Fathers of the Internet,” Cerf is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet. Cerf is a recipient of numerous awards and commendations in connection with his work on the Internet, including the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, US National Medal of Technology, the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, the Prince of Asturias Award, the Tunisian National Medal of Science, the Japan Prize, the Charles Stark Draper award, the ACM Turing Award and 21 honorary degrees.
